Customs & Duties
A guide for international customers of 111 Archive
Every ring from 111 Archive is designed and shipped from Ireland (EU). Whether you’re purchasing from the U.S., UK, or elsewhere, this guide outlines what to expect in terms of customs duties, taxes, and handling fees when your order crosses borders.
United States
Will I be charged import duties or tariffs?
Yes. As of April 2025, the U.S. has imposed a 20% import tariff on fine jewellery from the EU, including Ireland. This applies to gold, silver, platinum, and gemstone-set jewellery.
How much should I expect to pay?
- 20–25% of your total order value (including shipping)
- $10–$20 courier processing fee (varies by provider)
Example: On a €3,000 (~$3,200) order, expect approx. $650–$800 in import charges.
What about the $800 exemption?
If your item’s declared value is under $800, you may not be charged duties. However, this is not guaranteed and subject to U.S. Customs discretion.
Who collects these fees?
Your courier (DHL, FedEx, UPS) will contact you directly and request payment before delivery.
United Kingdom
Since Brexit, UK orders from the EU are now subject to import VAT and customs fees.
What will I be charged?
- 20% VAT on orders over £135
- Potential customs duties based on product classification
- Handling fee from couriers (typically £10–£20)
Example: A £2,000 order may incur £400+ in VAT and courier charges.
Can I reclaim VAT?
If you’re VAT-registered in the UK (e.g., a business), you may be able to reclaim the VAT via your tax return.
